Connecting with Adium

Adium is an open-source IRC client for Mac.

  1. From the menu, select Preferences.

  2. Look for the + button at the bottom-left corner.

  3. Add an account for IRC (Internet Relay Chat).

  4. Fill in the details:

    1. Nickname: the bouncer username you registered
    2. Hostname: the bouncer server (it will look like example.ircnow.org)
    3. Password: username/network:password -- For example, if your username is john, the network you want to connect to is ircnow, and the password is abcde12345, fill in john/ircnow:abcde12345.
  5. Click on the Personal tab

    1. Realname: the bouncer username you registered
    2. Username (ident): the bouncer username you registered
  6. Click on the Options tab

    1. Port: 31337
    2. Check Encrypt connection using SSL
    3. Click OK at the bottom-right corner.
  7. If you see a message saying ZNC is not yet connected to the network, type /znc connect -- wait a few minutes to connect.
